In its Legion product lineup, Lenovo has introduced two new gaming laptops. Together with a slew of Legion branded hardware including monitors and gaming accessories, the Legion Y740 and Legion Y540 were both presented at CES 2019 earlier this year.

As a laptop brand in India, with over 46 percent market share, Lenovo currently dominates the personal computing space and with the Legion series, it is only looking to strengthen its gaming portfolio in India.

“This fresh race of gamers is living a multi-faceted life that balances work, family and social life and is linked by their gaming enthusiasm. That’s why our Legion portfolio, co-created with gamers, is intended to look just as good in a living room as in a conference room, “said Shailendra Katyal, Consumer PCSD Executive Director, Lenovo India.

Features of Lenovo Legion Y740

Machined from aluminum, the Legion Y740 is anodized in black color. It weighs 2.2 kg at its thickest point and is 2.38 cm. It features an anti-glare Full HD display of 15.6-inch (1920x 1080 pixels) with a refresh rate of 144Hz and supports Dolby Vision for HDR gaming. As the 720p webcam has been re-positioned to the bottom bezel, the screen on the laptop has minimal bezels, enabling an immersive viewing experience.

Configured with the recent 9th Gen Intel Core i7-9750H processor, Lenovo Legion Y740 can be combined with RTX 2060, RTX 2070 Max-Q or RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics. The laptop supports SSD storage options up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM and up to 1 TB M.2.

Dolby Atmos has finely tuned the audio system on the Y740 to offer an outstanding audible gaming experience. In addition, a full-size Corsair iCue RGB gaming keyboard with 100 percent anti-ghosting and less than 1ms response time is provided to the laptop.

The Y740 features a thermal solution from Legion Coldfront that utilizes a dual-channel system that cools the CPU and GPU independently. Each channel has 70 fan blades for the keyboard with a specific heat sink. The Legion Y740’s four air vents receive an RGB lighting therapy that enhances their gaming aesthetics.

Most I / O ports were put on the laptop’s back end. These include three USB 3.1 ports, one HDMI input, one RJ45 LAN port, one mini port, a Type-C USB port, and a headphone jack of 3.5 mm.

Features of Lenovo Legion Y540

Unlike the Y740, the Y540 Legion is a slightly more inexpensive laptop and is therefore constructed with a plastic. The Y540 doesn’t look like a gaming laptop on the outside because for a more elegant profile it’s been stripped of the RGB goodness.

It features a 144Hz refresh rate and minimal bezels Full HDIPS anti-glare screen with 144Hz refresh rate. The Y540 is powered by an Intel Core i7-9750H processor of up to 9th generation and coupled with a graphics card of up to 6 GB RTX 2060.

The Legion Y540 comes with 16 GB RAM and can be upgraded as on-board storage option up to 32 GB along with 1 TB SSD. It is equipped with two Harman Kardon speakers and Dolby Atmos assistance.

The computer also has a gaming keyboard that is 100% anti-ghosting and promotes white backlit color.

Prices and availability for Lenovo Legion Y740 & Y540

The price of Lenovo Legion Y740 begins at Rs 1,29,990, while the Legion Y540 begins at Rs 69,990 in India. Both laptops can be purchased from Lenovo India shop, India’s main internet and offline shops.
